It's a Gas Gas Gas

You might remember this post from back in June. It was a contest concerning what the average price of gas will be in the Twin Cities on 1/1/09. I predicted $2.49/gallon; a number of other people are playing, too, with a range of predictions from Right Hook's optimistic $2.67 to Uncle Ben's more pessimistic $3.90.

Just so you know, the price of gasoline at the gas stations nearest my house -- the SuperAmerica and PDQ that battle it out at the corner of Old Highway 8 and County Road D, hard by the New Brighton/Roseville border, currently stands at $2.819.

Mind you, the rest of the economy is in the crapper, but hey, that's something.

i'm at a bit of a disadvantage, as CA prices are normally highest in the nation.
i called 325.
its 337 right now on my corner.

Gino has a fair point. With the different tax structures and multitude of designer blend requirements it's tough to have an apples-to-apples comparison.

Perhaps a more fair criteria would be the price of a barrel of oil or the percentage change between the 1/1/09 and the 6/1/08 local prices.

Well, the rules were the average on TwinCitiesGasPrices.com on New Year's Day. So that's the gauge.

Don't change the rules, RH! You're likely to win!

Best,
Mark

Sorry. I must have had a "moderate moment".
