Barack "Bohica" Obama

Obama gave a big speech today. The transcript is here. Put it this way: the speech is like a 30-lb. Thanksgiving turkey, since we could pick at it for days, and it's likely that I probably will. But one thing really jumps out. Our next president said this:

It is true that we cannot depend on government alone to create jobs or long-term growth, but at this particular moment, only government can provide the short-term boost necessary to lift us from a recession this deep and severe. Only government can break the vicious cycles that are crippling our economy – where a lack of spending leads to lost jobs which leads to even less spending; where an inability to lend and borrow stops growth and leads to even less credit.
If we take Barack Obama at his word, it would appear that he thinks he can actually do this. And he's going to try. Oy.

Not sure what "Bohica" means? You're about to find out.

"Only government"? Yikes! How about this: only government can prolong this downturn and make it ten times worse than it needs to be.

Did you see the article at NRO about Warren Harding? If you haven't it's worth a read.

Sorry, Amanda. We sometimes are a little PG-13 'round here.

It's nice to have Conservatives complaining about government spending again. Welcome back, and keep up the good work. I'm counting on you guys.

Rich,

You know why it's "bohica?" The last letter is the key. I may not have been as vocal about it as I should have been, but W has been doing the bohic thing pretty steadily for the past 8 years, and especially the last 6-9 months, where it's become clear that he has panicked. But that's another post.
