I am aghast

This is funny as hell (H/T: Hot Air):

Some of the leading liberal bloggers are privately furious with the major progressive groups — and in some cases, the Democratic Party committees — for failing to spend money advertising on their sites, even as these groups constantly ask the bloggers for free assistance in driving their message.

Really? Shocka!

“They come to us, expecting us to give them free publicity, and we do, but it’s not a two way street,” Jane Hamsher, the founder of FiredogLake, said in an interview. “They won’t do anything in return. They’re not advertising with us. They’re not offering fellowships. They’re not doing anything to help financially, and people are growing increasingly resentful.”

Hamsher singled out Americans United for Change, which raises and spends big money on TV ad campaigns driving Obama’s agenda, as well as the constellation of groups associated with it, and the American Association of Retired Persons, also a big TV advertiser.

“Most want the easy way — having a big blogger promote their agenda,” adds Markos Moulitsas, the founder of DailyKos. “Then they turn around and spend $50K for a one-page ad in the New York Times or whatever.” Moulitsas adds that officials at such groups often do nothing to engage the sites’s audiences by, say, writing posts, instead wanting the bloggers to do everything for them.

Where to begin? First, and I know this is a tough concept for a lot of folks on the Left to understand, let's begin with a basic premise: you don't typically pay for something you already own. Hamsher and Kos and the rest of these bien pensants are not going anywhere and have already given Obama and his constellation of support groups the only thing they ever craved -- power. It is a shame that they aren't leaving a Jackson on the nightstand for you guys, but are you really surprised that they don't respect you in the morning?

Second, who knew that the AARP was supposed to be supporting lefty bloggers? I thought they were supposed to be a non-partisan organization that simply cared about making the lives of seniors better, primarily by letting them get a few bucks off on dinner out and whatnot. Here's a hint to Jane Hamsher -- if you'd like more money from them, you might consider offering an Early Bird Special.

Everywhere you look it's the frog and the scorpion.

Another term would be "Charmin."

When is Homeland Security going to start paying me for all the posting I do on the AKJ. How many countless lives have I saved by warning people of the dangers of lions and tigers and bears, oh my; not to mention the rest, from squirrels to run amok elephants.

Oh well, at least I sleep knowing I'm doing some good in the world.

KD,

That's an excellent question! By now, I would have thought that Marlin Perkins would have personally shown up at your door with a check.

It's the shame of a nation, I tells ya.
