A review of one exchange during Obama World Tour 2009 from the left-wing Guardian.

Mark,
That was funny. I usually get a kick out of Crace. He may write for the Guardian, but he is pretty much a free-agent.

And, I am not meaning to defend Obama, because that was a truly dreadful exchange. But he really was between a rock and a hard place. If he answered truthfully, he'd have to say something like: People from Yakutsk to Patagonia are suffering from a global recession that started in my country because Americans placed too much faith in the ability of our financial markets to regulate themselves.
At which point, you guys would declare that Obama is "Blaming America First."
Am I wrong?

No, I wouldn't say that he was blaming America First. In fact, Obama kinda stumbled onto the right answer in a way, because it doesn't do a hell of a lot of good to blame anyone for a systemic problem. My problem is that Obama is drawing the wrong conclusions for how we move forward. But that's another post.
