res ipsa loquitur - a very special lunch hour edition

Behold the astroturfers/teabaggers/enemies of the state at work in St. Louis. Be sure to keep scrolling.

My TvM colleague Gary Miller gets to the heart of the matter. Over/under on the walkback for "inartful phrasing" on this one is probably sometime after 5 p.m. today.

Peggy Noonan redeems herself: Nancy Pelosi, the speaker of the United States House of Representatives, accused the people at the meetings of “carrying swastikas and symbols like that.” (Apparently one protester held a hand-lettered sign with a “no” slash over a swastika.) But they are not Nazis, they’re Americans. Some of them looked like they’d actually spent some time fighting Nazis.

Thuggery. The American people will have a very clear choice in the election to come: conservative governance with some warts but generally adhering to law vs. liberal governance with fascist tendencies. Does the law matter to us?

True dat, WBP. I saw a great description of our President on another blog: Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde Park. Perfect.

Before you get too carried away with yourselves, you might want to look at these pictures: http://andrewsullivan.theatlantic.com/the_daily_dish/2009/08/pelosi-wasnt-hallucinating-ctd.html

And nobody holding those signs look like they fought the Nazis.

sorry mr d, it takes more than this for peggy to redeem herself.
she shilled for the O. sold her soul (if she had one left).
she needs to perform sincere acts of contrition before she can be restored.

as for me, she was a weak link yrs ago, so i dont expect much from.

not to mention the stain it left on her 'catholic' label.

Rich,

You're kidding, right? A sign with a swastika being crossed out? And a picture of Obama with a Hitler mustache? Scandal!

I could find you an image of every single president since FDR with a similar mustache on it in a matter of minutes. And just for a few laughs, try a Google search on the terms "Chimpy McHitler" (8,690 hits) or "Chimpy McHitlerburton" (9,620 hits) or "Bushitler." The last one will get you 27,800 hits. And now you bring in Andrew (Trig Truther) Sullivan as a source?

EPIC FAIL.

ROFLMAO, as they say on the internets!

Carrying a swastika is generally considered bad form. Carrying a swastika with a circle and a diagonal bar is less problematic. Pelosi's comment insinuated that they were approvingly carrying the swastika. Either I totally misunderstood her comment, or she was trying to smear a bunch of people.

On the other hand, portraying someone with a Hitler mustache is just dumb. Obama might be a bum and a thug, but he's hardly a mass murderer. I renounce that poster.

picklesworth is right.

a poster with obama dressed up as mugabe? now, that would be more appropriate.

I think he's more cut from the cloth of a Hugo Chavez, who is more cut from the cloth of Fidel Castro. Come to think of it, both of those guys restricted rights, oppress opposition, and have gone the Cult of Personality route...Perhaps some similarities.

I think Rich has a "Dan Cortez" heterosexual crush on Obama much like George Costansa in a Seinfeld episode. Seriously Rich, how can you keep defending everything this guy and his cronies do?

We need to be fair: Rich isn't defending everything Obama does, anon. If you read his comments, he doesn't. And he can explain his motivations better than I could, should he choose to.

I'd agree with that assessment. Having said that, I have a hard time working up too much outrage over it after what Mr. Obama's predecessor had to deal with.

And I stand by my derision of using Andrew Sullivan as a source for anything. The one thing that drives me nuts is when I'm asked to denounce every crazy thing that emanates from my side of the aisle (cf. the "Birther" issue) and the Democrats get a pass on Trig Trutherism, Code Pink antics and suchlike. And since Sullivan has trafficked in such things repeatedly, he's beyond the pale. I don't care how many people read him.

Anon.
I come to this blog for spirited and intelligent debate with well-informed, respectful and coherent Conservatives who I don't always agree with, but for whom I have a great deal of respect. You don't seem interested in that type of discourse. I can't tell you where to blog, but you might want to consider another site. Can I suggest World Net Daily, or anything Michael Savage is connected with.

Regards,
Rich Kerwin
