A question for the audience

So Barack Obama has been president for over a year now. Are we allowed to start holding him accountable for anything yet? Or is he still the Great Inheritor?

The floor is open.

Investors Business Daily had a great cartoon of Barack Obama entering a 12-step program for spend-a-holics.

The caption read "Hi, my name is Barack and George W. Bush is a spendaholic."

It's just as unfair to say that Obama shouldn't be held accountable NOW, as it is to say that he DIDN'T come into the presidency handicapped with a recession.

fair point amanda.
but obama campaigned hard for the job, knowing the state of affairs he was inheriting.

it just classless to keep blaming the other guy when he was the one who promised milk and honey.

btw: reagan came into a recession at least as bad that carter left for him. he didnt bitch about it. not once.
he just got to work doing the things he said he would do to fix it.

its called statesmanship.

From Reagan's 1983 State of the Union:

"The problems we inherited were far worse than most inside and out of government had expected; the recession was deeper than most inside and out of government had predicted. Curing those problems has taken more time and a higher toll than any of us wanted."

"First, we must understand what's happening at the moment to the economy. Our current problems are not the product of the recovery program that's only just now getting under way, as some would have you believe; they are the inheritance of decades of tax and tax, and spend."

It's politics, folks. They are going to say what they think will get them votes. Let's not make saints of any of them.

Whoops, I commented without reading the entire comment before me, and so I deleted the response.

So now I have nothing to say but "Yeah! Totally!"
