Fisking the Newspaper of Record

Some institutions carry more respect than they deserve and the New York Times is one of the best examples. The Times has long been considered the "Newspaper of Record" in this country, despite a very long history of getting important matters wrong.

They also employ very silly columnists and sometimes print demagogic guest editorials. Fortunately, in the Internet era we have smart people like John Hinderaker and Ann Althouse available to cut through the nonsense. Fisking, the art of dissecting stupidity by going through a piece and pointing out its stupidity line by line, is a tough but necessary job and you should hit the links to see why it must be done.

I love Hinderacker's last paragraph about the Times. They don't deserve a scrap of respect. If it runs in the Times it is to be laughed at.
