I was living in New Mexico back in the late 90s when Johnson was entering his second term and doing a darn fine job at this whole "being governor" thing.

It's been a shame to watch him self-immolate his political talents faster than a Buddhist Monk ever since. Johnson could have been an effective Libertarian-style senator but chose instead to spend a decade outside the political limelight. His nascent Republican presidential bid was amateurish on its best day and it appears little has changed since he switched political affiliations.

I remember much being made of former Rep. Bob Barr's 2008 Libertarian bid - and he got .4% of the vote (Nader actually got more votes). I doubt Johnson will do significantly better come this November.
