The return of ol' 4

Sounds like the Packers and Brett Favre have made up:
The Packers and Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. issued a media advisory at 7 p.m. on Sunday, relating to a joint announcement regarding former Packers quarterback Brett Favre: “The Green Bay Packers Hall of Fame Inc. and the Green Bay Packers will make a joint announcement regarding former quarterback Brett Favre Monday, Aug. 4, at 1:30 p.m., in the new Hall of Fame under construction in the Lambeau Field Atrium.”
There was always a lot of anger regarding the way Favre left Green Bay, but after four years that's done. Some people in this vicinity will remember him wearing purple, but he's a Packer, and always will be. It's long since time to recognize that.

And next year the Packers will let it leak that they're thinking about un-retiring his number.

i dont understand the anger at favre.
the pack was ready to move on, he wasnt willing to be a backup...
what did you expect him to do?

he parted ways and played somewhere else. he wasnt under contract to green bay, and he wasnt a traitor when he eventually signed with MN.

Crankbait, heh.

Gino, what people had trouble with at the time was the way it ended in Green Bay. He put the fans through the ol' "maybe I'll retire" thing numerous times. Then he did retire, but then changed his mind and used ESPN to do his negotiating. A lot of people saw it as sandbagging the Packers, especially after the 2008 season turned into a disaster.

It's all a long time ago. There won't be much anger left at all now. At least for me, 2010 cured that issue.

I still think everybody "won" on the Favre issue...within reason.

Green Bay got to move on with a fantastic young QB. Aaron Rodgers got to get immediate public support for the move by the virtue of Favre leaving the team to play for a hated rival. The Vikings got an established veteran to lead them during the peak of their competitiveness. And Favre got one last chance to demonstrate how good he was (his best statistical season as a QB by a mile was 2009 - at least by QB rating).

Sure there were downsides. Green Bay struggled in 2008. The Vikings didn't get to the Super Bowl. Favre returned for one year too many in 2010 (and then there's the 2009 NFL Championship Game). But by reasonable expectations, everyone got what they were looking for by Favre leaving Green Bay and joining the Vikings.

Hard to argue any of that, FR.

the best part for me: it was The Bears that retired him :)
