Bat-guano crazy

No guano, dude:
One would have thought that a 90-day suspension of immigration from seven countries with minimal economic ties to the United States would be minor news. It has to be the best thing an American president has done since Ronald Reagan told Gorbachev to tear down the Berlin Wall, because all the people I dislike have gone bat-guano crazy.
That's the take of David "Spengler" Goldman, and it's difficult to argue the point. I try, I really do, not to dislike people, but it's become ridiculous. Trump is living rent-free in so many heads right now that it's frankly a little frightening. And the bat guano is piling so high that people are noticing:

Getting all Sartre up in here
That's part of an extended rant from Iowahawk, who has just about had enough. I get the feeling. Meanwhile, this is happening in the cradle of the Free Speech Movement:
Protesters armed with bricks and fireworks mounted an assault on the building hosting a speech by polarizing Breitbart News editor Milo Yiannopoulos Wednesday night, forcing the event’s cancellation.

Several injuries have been reported and at least four banks have been vandalized after demonstrators marched away from the scene of a violent protest at the canceled speaking event by controversial far-right writer and speaker Yiannopoulos on the University of California at
Berkeley campus.

UC Berkeley officials said the protest was infiltrated by vandals.

Yiannopoulos was making the last stop of a tour aimed at defying what he calls an epidemic of political correctness on college campuses.
And at a place near and dear to me:
A Beloit College student admitted fabricating an incident in which a swastika, anti-Muslim and ethnic and racial slurs were spray-painted on a dorm room door and a nearby wall.

The 20-year-old man was arrested for obstructing, disorderly conduct and criminal damage in connection with the incident reported Monday, according to a news release from the Beloit Police Department.

Officials at the college said that two reported hate crimes at the school were under investigation, one in which an anti-Semitic note was placed under a student's door Friday, the other involving the spray-painted messages.

According to police, the student admitted spray-painting the messages. He said that he saw how the first reported incident had brought the Beloit College community together and that he fabricated the incident to create, "similar attention," according to the release.
We get what we want. What we seem to want these days is to demonstrate how holy and righteous we are, so instead of the Bat Signal, we have the Virtue Signal and instead of getting Batman, we get bat guano. And I don't mean the character that Keenan Wynn played in Doctor Strangelove, although it's not all that different.

Can we all calm down a little?

Calm down? NO! I am going to kick and scream and hold my breath until reality conforms to my wishes! I just wish the authorities would give these snowflakes something to really cry about, like 30 days in the slammer.

My siblings have been very upset by Trump's election and have been commenting on politics more than has been their habit. I've mainly kept silence on FB except for a couple of posts on the value of seeking understanding. The other day my brother texted me and asked about the Republican mindset on a couple of things. We ended up having a really great conversation.

In what passes for civic discourse these days everybody is just a caricature; what we need are actual conversations. This is what the professional Left is trying desperately to avoid. Shutting Milo down and like actions are all about maintaining caricatures and separating people lest they get "woke." And Trump is feeding them all the rope they want. There will be a time when Trump's behavior will become the poison. But for the time being it's the antidote.

Settling down does not suit the narrative or the objectives. The Elite want to show how unpleasant things can get if you don't go along with their wishes - and will use the droogs to do it.

Rush right now is talking about when these nutballs will realize that they aren't changing things, and if anything are making support for their supposed "cause" LESS likely. What seems to be missed is that if these people were rational enough to realize that, they would be rational enough not to do it in the first place. Rush says we have a "concentration of stupidity and ignorance" causing the problem. No doubt he is right again.

When I heard about the shenanigans in Berkeley and the atrocity at the prison, it just becomes super clear that we've got to start cracking down HARD on rioters, starting with federal funding to towns that don't arrest them, or don't prosecute them. This is just nonsense.

I've been thinking about some idea like using fire hoses to douse these rioters, then arresting anybody that walks away wet. Better yet, use some of that "non-lethal" technology, like goopy adhesive nets, to stop rioters in place and allow their arrest on the spot. Of course, in these "sanctuary cities" such things would be politically incorrect.

Droogs is precisely the right term. We're already well into ultraviolence territory. About the only thing missing is replacing the doggerel chants with a rousing chorus of "Singing in the Rain."

A little of the ol' ultraviolence.

'singing in the rain'... hehheh, one of my favorite scenes from any movie. so much is present there.

seriously though... all this violence and riot is planned and orchestrated. why is there not RICO charges being brought against somebody?

Heck, I would be happy if we had a few arrests and serious prosecutions. Wearing all black and including a face mask and carrying a hammer does NOT make a peaceful demonstrator of the First Amendment stripe. Wearing uniforms marks a criminal conspiracy, no?
