Special Counsel Robert Mueller has impaneled a grand jury in Washington to investigate Russia’s interference in the 2016 elections, a sign that his inquiry is growing in intensity and entering a new phase, according to people familiar with the matter.It's not a witch hunt, Mr. President. It's a coup. How Trump responds in the coming days will determine his fate. The people trying to take Le Grand Orange down are talented, ruthless, and motivated. They don't care what Trump's supporters think about any of it, nor are they particularly concerned about the long-term ramifications of what they are doing. They just want to win and they assume they will.
The grand jury, which began its work in recent weeks, signals that Mr. Mueller’s inquiry will likely continue for months. Mr. Mueller is investigating Russia’s efforts to influence the 2016 election and whether President Donald Trump’s campaign or associates colluded with the Kremlin as part of that effort.
A spokesman for Mr. Mueller, Joshua Stueve, declined to comment. Moscow has denied seeking to influence the election, and Mr. Trump has vigorously disputed allegations of collusion. The president has called Mr. Mueller’s inquiry a “witch hunt.”

How exciting. I've always wanted to live through a coup.
Say, do you remember looking at the old Soviet Bloc countries and wondering what it was like to live under them? I remember wondering to what extent they knew how their governments lied to them. How much did the fog of propaganda and just human sin obscure reality? It seems rather a lot. A significant plurality of this country would cheer an unlawful coup. (And despair a counter-coup.)
The president will have to rally the people because he has no party apparatus to rely upon. And when the people take to the streets, the Democratic process will be all but over.
I'm not quite sure this is a coup, but it is what James Comey should have done for Hilliary, getting her server, other documents, and the like. My take here is that if the Trump team starts getting clues about who is leaking confidential and classified information, a LOT of problems in the DOJ and elsewhere get solved, including on Mueller's team. But just like with the Mafia, you've got to get the first pig to squeal. We'll see if that happens.
