You keep this up and you might find yourself being censured by the South Carolina GOP.

Gino, give it a rest. I notice that you quote a sentence fragment of what Obama actually said that day. There is a good reason for that. You don't want folks looking at the full context of Obama's statement. What Obama was discussing was that he felt we needed more troops on the ground in Afghanistan and that we shouldn't rely almost entirely on air power to get the job done. Given the state of Afghanistan eight years after our invasion of the country and early successes against the Taliban, it should be apparent that Obama was right. Also add that Obama made his remarks in the wake of a series of highly publicized botched airstrikes that did kill Afghani civilians, and a few days after Defense Secretary Robert Gates had offered Afghanis "Sincere condolences and personal regrets for the recent loss of innocent life as a result of coalition airstrikes." and it becomes apparent that you are completely misrepresenting what the then Senator said.
(BTW, here is the link to Gates' full statement: http://www.defenselink.mil/speeches/speech.aspx?speechid=1274)

I will even concede that it was a poor choice of words, but it is dishonest to pretend that Obama was attacking the soldiers.

Regards,
RichAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19838051.post-47165356975403067162009-11-11T10:24:08.924-06:002009-11-11T10:24:08.924-06:00Exactly, NW.
