Opening Day in Chicago

Brewers 4, Cubs 3. But I think we need to watch out for Kosuke Fukudome, a highly talented Cub from Japan. And I think WGN television has to be pleased that Harry Caray is no longer around to inadvertently turn Mr. Fukudome's name into an unintentional X-rated malaprop.

Good one, Mark. WGN would have definitely needed a 7-second delay with multiple producers manning the "dump button" were Harry to call a game with Fukudome in the lineup.

Thanks, LL and Dan. Did you happen to see the broadcast the first time Harry did a game that involved Hideo Nomo? It was an epic cringe-fest. I'll bet Steve Stone still wakes up in a cold sweat thinking about it. I may have to write that one up....

No I didn't see it. I can't remember where I was but I didn't.

Then again, I may have been listening to it on WGN Radio. I grew up listening to baseball, not watching it. There is a difference. TO THIS DAY, I "get" the game better when I listen to it versus watching it.

Oh, Harry Caray...I wonder if he has recovered completely from all the booze he consumed while he was living? But, Caray at his drunken politically incorrect worst isn't as bad as Ken "Hawk" Harrelson. "End of the 5th, Bad Guys 3, Good Guys 2." I always got confused, because I always thought the White Sox were the bad guys.

As for the opener, I just Gagne isn't French for gas can...he looked terrible.
