Bad Amateur Pundit -- DNC Edition

I saw very little of last night's DNC convention because we decided to watch the Giants/Cowboys game instead. There's reason to believe we made the right decision. From what I can tell, the highlight of the evening was Bill Clinton going on for nearly an hour about the bad sins of Republicans. The reviews are mixed, as you might expect -- the liberal pundits seem to be ecstatic and the conservatives less so.

One thing, though -- if you saw the speech and were impressed with how Bill Clinton speaks truth to power, you might want to remember that you were watching:

  1. A man who was found to be in contempt of court for giving "intentionally false testimony" in a lawsuit was testifying on behalf of:
  2. A man who created composite girlfriends in his autobiography; and
  3. A running mate who lifted the autobiography of British politician Neil Kinnock for his own use.

And don't forget; Monica Lewinsky's childhood rabbi spoke, too!

Yet it's not a good idea to get carried away and make the blog about your family or outside interests. The whole professional vs. personal ratio also has to be calculated with your topic and target audience in mind. If you're having second thoughts about writing something in your blog that might be crossing the line, it's best to err on the side of caution and leave it out.

You can draw inspiration from others, but make sure you instill your blog with your own personality as well!

Hanna Checker HC Photometers. But don't get any ideas about building your own--it's trademarked, and an LA producer is interested in the movie rights. If you're working in America then the answer is probably yes, but before you go running to the lawyers everything they are doing is probably all supported by law.
