Actually, I don't care what Meryl Streep thinks. We pay attention to what she says when she is saying words that other people have provided her, in artificial worlds created by other people.
It's telling that Sophie is telling us that the right choice is to raise Hell about insulting a crippled journalist, but to applaud those who commit forcible rape like Roman Polanski and Bill Clinton.
Associating moral invalids like Streep with four year olds is a grave injustice to the four year olds!
No point arguing that, Gino. Either way, it's strain at a gnat but swallow a camel--either it's provoked rudeness to a reporter vs. forcible rape, or it's unprovoked rudeness to a reporter vs. forcible rape.
One has to wonder, really, whether Hollywood's acceptance of Polanski has a lot to do with the reputation of the "casting couch" as a place where directors and producers get a lot more than an audition from actresses and actors. How much of the place would remain if you did scorched earth on people who committed sexual assault? And how much would film change if they cracked down on this?
Streep doesn't even need to have been assaulted or to have "given it up", really. She simply needs to know that a lot of others were, and someone as prominent as Polanski can and will go "scorched earth" if Hollywood turns against him. Code of omerta as it were, or perhaps "mutual assured destruction", really.

Trump voters are not a part of her America. Thats why he won.
I don't take it too hard when my 4 year old stomps her feet and lectures me on what's fair.
