I was quite taken by his thinking about the tyranny of knowledge. It flat out resonates with me.

I've been slowly reading Charles Taylor's "A Secular Age" which touches on some of the same territory, the whys of the tyranny, how it came to be. Science, "improvement," and the triumph of reason have brought great gifts to humankind, but they have all come with serious bagage.
