Sorry, I can't suss this one out. Too strange, especially the timing. Could be random stupidity or it could be an American version of the Profumo scandal.
If it's true that his mistress was his biographer, the book title is pretty interesting. As is the subtitle, "The Education of David Petraeus." It would appear that school is still in session.
Mostly I just feel badly for his wife. It is bad enough to have your spouse cheat on you, but at least that humiliation isn't typically compounded by being announced in the national press.
Brian: my wife's 1st hubby was a doctor (also her steady since the age of 15). while going through her divorce period (after 20yrs of marriage), she found herself in the ER with a fractured ankle... her hubby's ER. (he was/is still prominant in emergency medicine).
she kept hearing, 'You're Sam's wife? I didnt know Sam was married'...
she divorced him due to one affair too many to forgive. but how many actually occured wasnt clear to her until then. (turns out, he was banging every nurse that would sit still for it... and LOTS of nurses like to get banged by docs.)
as she says: NOTHING is more humiliating than knowing that everybody else knew all along... while you knew nothing.
I don't think this has ANYTHING to do with a cover-up of Benghazi. It is an embarrassing mess that he and his mistress got involved in and has nothing to do with Obama. Are we giving in to conspiracy theories now when anything bad happens to Obama? Come on, guys!
Regarding the biographer, she did an interview on The Daily Show and talked about how she had unfettered access to everything Petraeus was involved in. To see that now and seeing here confidence and swagger as to how close she got to Petraeus is really creepy. The sad thing on her side is she is married with two kids and wrote threatening letters to another woman she thought was getting close to Petraeus. That is a little scary!
I think the prize for winning the election is four long years of the whiff of scandal and failure. If it just smells a little "off" that will be a success.

Can't help but think the timing of this is more of the Obama cover-up of Benghazi.
Dan, I don't know what to think any more.

Uh, CB? There's no evidence that anything bad has happened to Obama. You'll note that I haven't posited anything of the sort.
I brought up Profumo, which ended up bringing down the British government, but that played out very differently than what I think happened here.
If there's any issue with Petraeus in re Benghazi, I'm certain that Darrell Issa will find out.

I agree with that -- this president is a genius at getting elected, but governing? Not so much.
OK, I should have said, "Come on, Cousin Dan"! Is that better? :)

No, you're not allowed to pick on my cousin under any circumstances, CB. ;)
Don't worry, he can take of himself. And probably will.
