- So Rahm Emanuel, the president's ever-excitable, R-rated chief of staff, got in trouble for calling Democratic activists "f******** retards." Chastened, he has apparently decided to apologize to Tim Shriver of the Special Olympics. He has not apologized to the Democrats he insulted, though. Feel the love, activists!
- Rahm is not alone, of course. The President himself has a propensity to take shots at his friends as well. Consider the grief he's caused his chief water-carrier in the Senate, the lovely and talented Harry Reid, by bashing Las Vegas. Things aren't going so well in Sin City these days and Reid is in a lot of trouble. Here's a bet (pun intended) -- Obama's comments won't help him much.
- Fred Thompson demonstrates the joy of Twittering.
- Megan McArdle of the Atlantic Monthly seems to think the President is a little unclear on the concept, pointing out what she terms the "Quote of the Decade." Oh, the decade is young, Ms. McArdle. Rahm Emanuel could have that topped by lunch.

It is an insult to the mentally challenged to compare them to the left wing. While Palin's outrage may have been a trifle manufactured, she had the right to speak out and no doubt enjoyed putting Rahm over the same fire typically kept stoked by the Democrats and basting him with some of their own special sauce.
As for the "quote of the decade", it's obvious that Rahm is trying to elevate his game, knowing that he will be in constant competition with Joe Biden who can strike from left field at any time.
