Go because you know that Israel is one of our closest and most steadfast allies and you feel a responsibility to listen to its leader speak about developments that he believes could threaten the safety, independence and even existence of his country, as well as that of our closest allies in the Arab world. So, do you believe Ellison and McCollum know any such thing?
Go because — regardless of what you think of the leaders involved or their actions in this case — you are a strong supporter of America’s alliance with Israel, and you don’t want it to become a partisan matter. It's been a partisan manner for a long time now. Ellison and McCollum are partisans. There's no point pretending otherwise.
My guess -- Lieberman is wasting his breath.

Minds like a steel trap. Rusted shut.
mixed feelings on this. Bibi broke protocol, and he has zero rights to speak before our govt anyway.
Obama, though, should hear him out before dissing him.
were the shoe on the other foot, the partisans would still be lining up. this isnt about principles.
One can argue that Bibi has zero right to talk to Congress, but probably the more important issue is that Obama has the responsibility to submit treaties to the same. Which is more egregious in our system?
And it perplexes me that we haven't been able to get a real simple thing into our foreign policy. Something like "if you have the blood libel being broadcast on state run radio, we don't provide foreign aid."
But I guess "nuance" means you skip little things like this.
Bibi broke protocol, and he has zero rights to speak before our govt anyway.
I thought Boehner invited him.
Boehner did invite him. But the protocol is tween heads of state. One head doesnt just drop into another head's territory because he wants to chill with the opposition... not even if he was just visiting his sick mother.
Ok, so there's protocol. But what do you do when the guy on the other end of said protocol is a brass-plated idiot, and your country's survival is on the line?
