Just so you know. . . .
There is no way to completely stop school shootings, so long as we value an open society where people can come and go as they please. Mental health treatment might help some; as we learn more about the young man in Florida who killed 17 people, we might gain some insights we rarely get from such shooters, who in most cases take their own life to cap off their crimes. Nikolas Cruz is in custody, so he might tell us something useful. Politicians might try to render the 2nd Amendment a dead letter, but they can't take all the guns away without intolerable collateral damage. So let the bien pensant gun grabbers have their moment of virtue signaling. It will go nowhere.

A number of teachers I know, including my grandfather and my high school math teacher, were/are retired military officers who would understand how to use, say, a nice 1911 to defend their students. And I'd bet a shiny new nickel that a few would-be school shooters would reconsider after the first time a school shooter learned the hard way he couldn't run faster than 850 feet/second.
Just sayin'.
Maybe you saw the cartoon already being circulated last night of Uncle Sam cradling a huddled figure labeled NRA in the midst of several bleeding bodies and saying something to the effect of, "There, there, you're safe."
My thought was that this cartoon could have been run a week ago after Congress approved post-20-week abortions, but the huddled figure would be labeled "Planned Parenthood" and the surrounding bodies would be dismembered babies. But I guess that wouldn't have been funny.
And yet another case where the police and the FBI were aware of someone, but did nothing. 36 police visits to his home, and nobody even got a "public nuisance" citation? Seriously?

Yep. But this same gubmint will be able to rid the nation of assault weapons, no problem.
