No matter the emergency or the pretext, the moment a government determines that the life and livelihood or any citizen is "non-essential," tyranny has arrived. And tyranny does not cease until it is forced to cease.
my best buddy had a shop outside Los Angeles. he sold collectables, toys, trinkets and stuff like that, and a side business in car maintanence supplies at weekend swap meets. he wasnt making a lot of money, but he was making a subsistence living month to month, and getting his health care premiums paid (he's in bad health and is why he self employs).
he emptied out his shop last week, too far behind after 2 months of mandatory closure to ever get caught up, and the swap meets, of course, are over for a very long time. needless to say, he's not sure what he's going to do next.
most 'mom and pop' operations are not very different from his. they make a living, but arent breaking the bank. (the vast majority of these shops rarely have more than three people in them at any one time, and usually far less.)
meanwhile, everybody is free to purchase much of what he was selling if they want to crowd into a walmart.

its not about health.
its about control.
