Barnum Obama

I can only assume that Obama thinks he has it in the bag. How else do you parse this?

What we’re saying is that $87 billion tax break doesn’t need to go to people making an average of 1.4 million, it should go like it used to. It should go to middle class people — people making under $150,000 a year.”
That's what Joe Biden said yesterday. Haven't we been hearing incessantly that the threshold for Obama's tax manipulations would be $250,000?

Any bets that the number will change again after November 5?

?? No numbers have changed. Most of the tax cuts are for those making under $150k, with the $150-250k crowd getting fairly small rebates percentage wise.

There is no contradiction here. The $150-250k crowd gets tax cuts, but the campaign is trying to appeal to the 150k and under crowd (where the vast majority of votes are) so they mention the lower number as few sub-$100k folks think of the $250k crowd as "one of them."

It's more than likely a promise he doesn't intend to keep anyway, so the number doesn't really matter. Obummer has said he will let the Bush tax cuts expire so everyone will get a tax increase in 2010.

If things work out as I hope any number becomes meaningless as John McCain will be the President-elect on November 5.

In other words, the large print giveth and the fine print taketh away.

And you are right, RH. The best way to deal with the numbers is to make them moot by sending Senator Obama back to the Senate.
