The intrepid Brewers did what it took today, defeating the Giants 2-1 at Sitzer Park, then losing 7-2 to the Braves. The results meant that the Brewers finished third in the AL Classic. The game against the Giants was a tense, tightly played affair and the boys were able to make just enough plays to make it happen. In the second game, a single bad inning told the tale as the depleted Brewer pitching staff fought valiantly but ended up just a bit short.
Ben was officially 0-0 in the first game, with a sacrifice that moved the winning run into scoring position. In the second game Ben was 0-2, getting called out on a close play at first. He continued to field his position flawlessly.
Back to regular season action for the Brewers on Wednesday, with a 6:30 contest against the Cubs at Wilson Park. Stay with Mr. Dilettante for continuing coverage of Shoreview Area Youth Baseball American League action!
