Did he really say that? Did Barack Obama really call Sarah Palin a pig? The video is here.
You know what? He didn't call Sarah Palin a pig. He's clearly talking about his tendentious view regarding change and the meaning of change. But he was inartful (to recycle a word we've heard earlier) and while I do think the lipstick reference is about Palin, but my guess is that he meant that Palin is lipstick designed to gloss over what Obama wants people to believe about McCain.
But you know what? Barack Obama is an idiot. He has spent a hell of a lot of time in the past 10 days going after Sarah Palin, directly and indirectly. It's not working -Palin's popularity is off the charts. And every time he attacks McCain's running-mate, he compares himself implicitly to someone running for the #2 job. Obama is running for the #1 job.
What's worse is that Obama is doing a lot of this stuff himself, instead of using his surrogates to do it. It is amazing that he would do it personally. It is clear that the McCain campaign has gotten to him. Meanwhile, Joe Biden is attracting crickets.
I wouldn't expect Barack Obama to take my advice, especially since I want him to lose. But here it is anyway. About the best thing he could do right now is take a day or two off, regroup with his advisors and rethink what he's been doing. Right now it's pretty obvious that Obama is winging it and not thinking things through. If Obama persists in his current pattern, he'll be headed for Dukakisville. And there's no putting lipstick on that.

"Right now it's pretty obvious that Obama is winging it and not thinking things through." The really scary thing is that he may be thinking things through and what we hear and see is the output of his thought process.
It is becoming more and more apparent that Obama is not a deep thinker and is far more about image and perception rather than substance.
There's a famous Texan phrase that seems to accurately describe Obama: Big Hat, No Cattle.
