- I don't write about Michele Bachmann much here because (a) she's not my representative and (b) I'm not always fond of the way she does things. One thing I will say, though -- she has all the right enemies and she the way Bachmann drives her enemies around the bend is deeply useful. The amount of money that the Left spent on the campaign of the hapless Tarryl Clark was nothing short of astonishing. It was an incredible fool's errand to support Clark, given the demographics of MN-06. Bachmann won easily, of course. If you want to know why, Luke Hellier over at MDE has the reason. Angry lefties from all over the country poured their money into a completely lost cause and they didn't get even a microgram of catharsis out of the deal. I don't care who you are, that's funny.
- "lsm" is an excellent local blogger and she has written the first long analysis/post-mortem I've read concerning Tom Emmer's campaign, posted over at True North. I'm going to write more about Emmer in the coming days, but lsm's take is well worth your time, even though I don't agree with some of her conclusions.

Today's PiPress had a tsk-tsk story today about that obstreperous (I believe they said "unpredictable" - which only means they really haven't been paying attention) Bachmann upsetting the smooth Republican coronation in the House by running against the anointed choice for the Republican Conference Chairmanship.
My comment: "Bachmann's move is simply a message to the Republican leadership that they can't assume it's back to business as usual in D.C. Hensarling's credentials are solid, but the Tea Party is going to keep the pressure on. The Tea Party might have some affinity for the Republican Party, but not a lot of love. If the Republican leadership thinks the TP is going to play nice just because there's an "R" after someone's name then they're in for as much of a shock as President Obama."
