Ahem

Two things:

  • The Doomsday Clock is bullshit. If the goon squad that runs it said we were two seconds from annihilation, it would still be bullshit. They have no greater insight into the future than any of the rest of us do. Benster has a significantly better prediction record than the Bulletin of the Atomic Scientists.
  • You are under no obligation to listen to Greta Thunberg.

How dare you criticize a child?

When we talk criticizing a child, are we talking about the President?

While I suspect your question is tongue-in-cheek, it's worth noting I didn't criticize her. I just said you don't have to listen to her. Although my kids are now in their 20s, I've had ample experience with teenagers over the years. I've heard the arguments before. She's gotta a bigger micrphone (carbon neutral, I hope) because she has people in her life who are using her as a sock puppet. I'd prefer they leave her out of it, but it's too late for that. At some point she'll say something her handlers don't like and she'll be shuffled off to Cindy Sheehanville.

Er, make that "She's gotta bigger microphone." Rented fingers today, apparently.

Mr. D, I was making fun of Unknown's comment so I was not going after you.

Regarding Greta, I do not see her being used at all. This is her decision and judging by her father's reaction in a recent interview he is not happy about her skipping school or being on the front line due to the hate she is facing, but he said she is much happier being an activist. Her parents have also assisted with her getting counseling to battle depression (that was about 4 or 5 years ago) and have also assisted with getting her help for her Asperger's Syndrome. The whole family is together and they are watching out for Greta.

The real issue, and I saw this also with the kids from Stoneman Douglas, is to say the kids are being controlled, are too young or do not know what they are talking about is really a ploy to shut them up or diminish what they are saying. The shooting survivors are heroes of mine as they changed the gun debate, helped bring the NRA to its knees and energized our young people to get involved in politics. Greta is impacting the world now and I could not be happier.

Nor was I going after you. You weren't part of the conversation.
