For the Record

I am unabashedly pro-life. And because I am unabashedly pro-life, I condemn the murder of Dr. George Tiller categorically and completely.

That is all.

If anyone has an urge to kill someone at an abortion clinic, they should shoot me. ... It's madness. It discredits the right-to-life movement. Murder is murder. It's madness. You cannot prevent killing by killing."
- John Cardinal O'Connor.

Amen.

but killing has been prevented with waterboarding.

and on it's face, O'Conner is wrong. violence, and that means killing as an option, has saved lives throughout history.
that is why societies defend themselves and raise armies.

I don't think anyone who condemns the murder is necessarily required to feel a sense of loss. That would be the same as saying that one ought to feel a sense of loss over every individual who is murdered every single day. In general I feel that someone who is murdered is a loss to humanity, but if I don't know them personally, or their story, etc, then of course I wouldn't feel a sense of "loss." More like sadness that world can be so cruel.

I would think that O'Connor was referring to abortion doctor killings, not killing in general and/or war-time.

Gino, I love ya, but waterboarding has nothing to do with abortion.

...And you have no proof to support that statement! (Sorry, couldn't help it.)

Gino,
Sounds like you are advocating terrorism?

Also, I would like to see you prove that statement about waterboarding.

rich, are you equating a standard army, or a police force, with terrorism?

amanda: you're right. waterboarding is much nicer.

Gino,
you are the one who is trying to blur the lines between a terrorist act and defensive actions, not me. Also, I am waiting on the waterboarding thing.
