In Your Facebook

From the Decisions I May Come to Regret Department:

Yep, I joined Facebook last night. Mostly I'm curious -- I am aware that a lot of people I know play in that particular sandbox and I've already heard from a few folks, even though my page currently contains my standard picture (which is getting a little old, but then again so am I) and not much else. Will spend some time working on my page in the coming days and we'll see what happens.

Oooh exciting! Just wait until you get your first piece of flair. Oh, and prepare yourself for some new self-knowledge and introspection, as there are several personality quizzes which will explain to you what famous painting you are, what city you should be living in, what color you are, etc. Because these are things every person should know about themselves.

Just as long as I'm not a Goya painting, it should be all good. Or Jackson Pollock, I guess.

i'm rarely on my page.

FB is what you make of it, and i think too many make too much of it.

There's a cool photo of you in a recliner floating around the Web; perhaps you can use that.

"FB is what you make of it, and i think too many make too much of it." And they still have little to show for it.

It's good for keeping tabs on non-blogging friends but it can be an enormous time-suck if you let it. When I get all the invitations to join the Mafia Wars, Elf Wars, Vampire Wars, etc. I always respond that I'm too busy to pick any more fights.

i ignore them.

i got mine as a way to keep track of extended family, and has worked well in that regard, better than expected.

i ignore all requests from former schoolmates. i get them every day.
