The muse tends to come and go and today it appears to be buried under a snowbank. So, we'll make this an open thread. Bring us your topics and discuss!
I agree with Brad, although I wouldn't rule out both of them in Dallas. They need their circuses down there. My strong feeling is that Manziel, if he plays at all, will be either in the CFL or the Arena League.
I have to rethink the New Brighton series a bit. I had a plan in mind when I started writing it, but some things have changed in the last few months that call into question my initial premise for writing the series.
Given that Manziel was let go for character reasons, I'm thinking Oakland would be a great place for him. Pretty darned sad to see so much talent go to waste, though.
I dunno about Manziel being that talented, Bubba. He was an undersized college quarterback. He has a decent, but not great, arm with good, but not great, mobility. He's hardly prototypical for an NFL quarterback. You can be a little guy and succeed if you are a hard worker, like Drew Brees or Russell Wilson. Manziel isn't a hard worker. And I think you're being unfair to the Raiders, who have a good young quarterback. In the last few years, the Raiders have started to look like a an actual professional organization again. The circus is in the stands in Oakland, not so much on the field anymore.
Yeah, but Heisman and 1st round. I can agree with you completely that he wouldn't have been the next Bart Starr or Joe Montana, but to see him p**s away this chance is still pretty sad. He's a lot like Jim MacMahon that way, really.
And yeah, the Raiders have come a long way from "just win baby" and bailing players out on game day, but that old reputation is still going to be fodder for jokes when we're both spoiling grandchildren. Everybody who knew the old Raiders will get the joke in 2030.

The Browns cut Manziel. What are the odds he ends up a Cowboy?

Not nearly as high as RG III winding up in Big D.

Still waiting on the next chapter of that New Brighton series, Mr. D. Going to have to start calling you George RR Martin.
