Musical interlude

I've been reading a biography of Peggy Lee, the midcentury singer who went from North Dakota to major stardom. Here's a taste:

I remember Julie, and her husband Bobby Troup, starring in the 70s show, "Emergency 51". I didn't pay much attention to torch singers back then. Thanks to Carly Simon's "Torch" album, though, I gained a deeper appreciation for the genre.

That's what I remember them from, too. I hadn't been paying attention to the earlier part of her career, though. I should have.

The Lone Star singer is actually Little Willie John, who also did a famous version of "Fever."

A guy? I was even thinking it could be Nina Simone. It was a great mix of music, cinematography, and story-telling in that scene.
