Housekeeping Followup

Putting the dreaded captcha back into the comment section has stopped the spambots cold, so we're going to stay with it for now. I'll continue to investigate workarounds, though.

YMMV, but I have found that moderating comments and not allowing anonymous ones (which obviates the need for captcha) works just as well. The bots don't try to comment, so the only things that come into my inbox are legit comments.

Approving each one isn't much of a burden with the volume I have (similar to yours). Of course, that may not work for you depending on how connected you are/prefer to be during the day.

It's a double edged sword, because I have a few "anonymous" commenters (I'm 90% certain I know who they are) who wouldn't comment if I did that.

The captcha is a pain in the butt but it does allow for commenters to get through if they really want to. I'll keep watching it.

These are definitely first world problems.

Well, I haven't tried allowing anonymous comments together with moderation. It may work. Or it may fill your inbox with spam.

That would be my guess.
