Safe bet

There will be more of these:
A woman says Al Franken pulled her in tightly and put his hand on her buttocks in 2010 while posing for a picture at the Minnesota State Fair, the second allegation of improper conduct against the Democrat and first involving his time as a senator.

Lindsay Menz told CNN last week for a report broadcast Monday that the interaction with the Minnesota senator made her feel “gross.” She said she immediately told her husband that Franken had “grabbed” her bottom and that she posted about it on Facebook.
It's not particularly difficult to figure out that a guy who treats people badly for a living, as Franken repeatedly demonstrated during his comedy career, would not place a lot of value on human dignity.
Franken’s office did not respond to repeated Associated Press messages seeking comment.

With the Capitol empty due to Thanksgiving break, reaction to the latest allegation against Franken were muted compared to an outcry last week — and Democrats nationally and in Minnesota were silent.
Of course. There will be other accusers, though. And the silence won't be sustainable forever.

What good is power without a sense of entitlement?

I'm very curious where this will lead. As I've noted before, there is a certain portion of entertainment and politics that I simply can't see happening without a degree of grooming, and I would dare suggest that in a cycle of retaliation, we just might get Hollyweird upended quite a bit on something of a "Reign of terror".

It would be weird, and hilarious, if the Presidency of a man who runs strip clubs and was credibly accused of offenses ended up cleaning up Hollyweird and DC, but as things stand now, it seems to be a thin thread that is keeping exactly that from occurring. Wow.

"Wow, you're beautiful. Miss Heartland 2015, you say? Well, I'm a producer, maybe I can help you.

"Tell me, to get people talking about you, are you willing to appear on the red carpet wearing something slit up to here, and cut down to there? You are? Great!

"I hate to ask this, but would you be willing to take your top off to be in a movie? You would? That's a big help.

"For the sake of art, would you be willing to get completely naked and have intimate, but simulated, sex on camera?

"Well, it is a little uncomfortable for some at first, what with thousands of people able to see a private moment, but its not really you, it's your character, and we're very professional about everything, and it's purely to advance the story, I assure you.

"Fabulous! I can tell you're going to be a star! Now all I need to know in order to make the magic happen is if you'll get completely undressed and have real, but totally private sex with me - and, oh, never tell anyone about it."

i think Franken is more valuable to us in the senate than out of it.

Agree 100%, Gino.

RA; flip the order around. I would guess that the exposure, or degradation, in private would escalate as ever more prominent roles were granted, and then the exposure on-screen would commence. Hence "grooming".

I agree, too. I’ll admit I’m torn; Franken has a lot less power now than he did even a week ago and that’s all to the good.I greatly enjoyed Grassley handing Franken’s butt to him on the blue slip issue, so maybe daily doses of humiliation for Franken as a backbencher might be a more fitting way of dealing with this carbuncle on the body politic.

There’s still a little part of me that wants to see him forced out in disgrace, though.

On a related note, I see Kathy Griffin is bemoaning that she has been blacklisted and can't get a job, and that no woman has ever had to endure the garbage she's faced.

She's also offended that Al Franken never tried to grope her.

Sorry, I disagree. In the 2018 election I want to tie Foolin' Around Franken to Tess Trueheart Klobuchar and send BOTH of the two worst Senators in the Senate packing. MN deserves nothing less.

Latest news is that Keith Ellison is in line after the Franken failure, and that's even better. Too bad the GOP doesn't have a candidate yet.

Two more women have come forward claiming Franken, who can't find his legislative butt with both hands and a flashlight, does pretty well at finding somebody else's. Sure would be great to get at least ONE GOP US Senator from MN in 2018.
