Here's blood in your eye

Not a good look:
Former Vice President Joe Biden appeared to have a blood vessel burst in his left eye while participating in CNN's town hall on climate change.

A broken blood vessel in the eye, also known as a subconjuctival hemorrhage, can be caused by several things, including high blood pressure, bleeding disorders, blood thinners, or even excessive straining.

Biden, 76, has long been plagued by health issues. In 1988, he suffered an aneurysm that burst and required him to undergo emergency surgery. The then-senator was so close to death that a Catholic priest began preparing to administer the sacrament of last rites.
What did it look like? Kinda dire, actually:

It's not supposed to look like that
He's leading in the polls, but I don't think he's going to make it. And frankly, I am worried about him. I don't want any Democrat to win in 2020, but I also don't want any Democrat to die on the hustings, either.

I don't think it's a broken blood vessel. I think the mask hiding his lizard identity slipped.

Now let's imagine Biden was a Republican for a sec. We would hear widespread calls for him to die a horrible and painful death.

Lizard? I figure that he was a Grey? But he could be one of them there shape shifters?

There would be from the liberal wing of the Dem Party. I'd hope that even if us more conservative, and labor dems would refrain even if they thought so.

Is there any Democrat that y'all don't mind? Or one that you'd consider instead of Trump? And one that's alive? JFK finishing his first term, and Henry Wallace don't count. And is it that Trump has tried? And that he was able to cut taxes, and has tackled immigration that you do appreciate?

What are your views of the trade war? I'm not trying to hijack Mr. D's blog or thread here. I'm trying to understand conservatives. Attacking will not get us anywhere towards bridging the gaps. Trying to figure one another will help to get civil discourse back if it's even possible.

J. Peterson, it sounds like you are trying to start a discussion about why the partisan divide has become so hostile and even dangerous. If so, I can tell you that there is an organization holding "Red/Blue debates and workshops" to answer that question. I attended ONE and immediately found the answer. Red folks saw that Blues saw policy differences as personal attacks and responded accordingly. Blues could not understand why Reds considered policy differences as personal attacks. Reds wanted to discuss the problem; Blues wanted to tell Reds they were stupid and evil. Start there. Then we can talk about issues.

I haven't seen anyone I could vote for, for at least the last 20 years or so. Reps/Dems, same lizards, different suits. Which is why they both hate Trump, because he isn't one of them; a different animal. That isn't a reason to vote for him, but it's better than most.

R.A., I was going to make a fortune selling clothespins labeled "McCain," that you could put on your nose when you went to vote. I've been operating with the belief that any Republican is better than any Democrat and I can prove it. Democrats are only a problem when they acquire a majority, so anything to keep them out of it is good. Trump's greatest virtue, IMO, is his ability to drive 'em insane. It seems to be working.

I actually prefer Grover Cleveland.

Trump is Trump. The Democrats are nuts. You are aware that at least a few of them are advocating abortion for population control, right? That's pretty much straight up eugenics. If the Democrats could be normal, they would probably win. But they're not normal, especially in this cycle. When Marianne Williamson is coming off as the voice of reason, you have to consider where we've arrived.

Not sure it will work -- in fact, I would not be surprised if it doesn't, but the Chinese have been malefactors for a long time now.

I'm pretty easy to understand. I'll use the the P.J. O'Rourke formulation from the Clinton era, because it still works. Mind your own business and keep your hands to yourself. Hillary, mind your own business. Bill, keep your hands to yourself. Where it gets sticky? Trump hasn't always kept his hands to himself, either.

Attacking will not get us anywhere towards bridging the gaps. Trying to figure one another will help to get civil discourse back if it's even possible.

I'd love civil discourse. Not sure it's possible when people I know, people I was friends with in college, want conservatives dead, at least according to their social media feeds.

D., I've been having this debate for 30 years. It used to be that you could have a discussion with a liberal, at least up to the point where they were proven wrong, at which point they would leave the discussion in a huff, or just leave. Now, there is no attempt at all at discussion, they simply scream (metaphorically) in your face, call you every name in the book and completely dismiss anything you might say. As my Newfie friend would say, "Theys more than insane."

Jerry, I just added a representative screenshot social media message from an old college friend in a new post.
