Bernie or Bloomie

It's not over in New Hampshire yet, but it is. So what's next?

  • While I know John Croman and the rest of the local cheerleaders are very excited about Our Amy finishing third in New Hampshire, she has no path forward. She doesn't have enough money to compete on Super Tuesday and she has no ground game in Nevada or South Carolina. Her modest success has probably put a torpedo under the waterline of Pete Buttigieg, however. As long as they both stay in the race, and they both will because they can for the moment, they'll drag each other down to the bottom.
  • Bernie won.  And he's likely to win a few more states coming up. Do you see either Buttigieg or Our Amy beating Bernie in any upcoming state? Maybe Our Amy wins her home state. That's not enough.
  • Nanny Bloomberg has more money than King Canute, and if he continues to spend hundreds of millions on his own campaign, he can drain all the oxygen out of the room. Even if Klobuchar and Buttigieg had the money to buy ads in the upcoming states, Bloomberg has bought most of the available air time already.
  • So if you're a Democrat, would you rather have a crazy commie or a nasty scold from the Lollipop Guild? Because those are likely to be your choices.

Pete won't need much to compete in NV. His organiser is now working with the state party to make sure the caucus goes 'smoothly'. My money is on Pete being the establishment choice to foil Bernie.

As for Nannyman... He has been saturating the airwaves bigly... Can't even watch YouTube vids without his approval anymore.... I'm thinking he just may piss off too many people to get the votes he's trying to buy.

In a conventional presidential race, Mayor Pete and Auntie Amy would be potential VP choices to show diversity under the banner of the "mainstream" candidate; literally the "wing" man (or woman). But who, now, represents the mainstream for the Dems? Pete (did you know he's gay?) or Sen. Vanilla Fluff, at best, can only offer the chance to drag the ticket back from the left edge, rather than buff the candidate at the top of the ticket.

Bloomberg might not suck up all the oxygen, but he can try to buy it. The difference with Trump was that he sucked up all the oxygen from the other Republican candidates without having to spend a dime because the media "loved" him, and didn't think he was a serious threat to anyone but the Republican party.

I see the DNC has brought out their old political hatchman or hack if you prefer to attempt to slow down the communist wing of the party. I'm betting the James Carville strategy will be almost as successful as their Iowa Caucus effort.
