Matt Taibbi, writing for Rolling Stone, tells the Dems what they need to understand, but don't want to hear:
Yesterday’s really gone.

In 1993, liberal America sang along at the Bill Clinton inaugural ball with Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks (and Michael Jackson, whoops). “Don’t Stop” was “Ding, dong, the witch is dead!” for the smart set. The New Democrats ushered in a new reign for youth and modernity against Reagan-Bush reaction.

That’s done. After a vote in Iowa that reeked of third-world treachery — from monolithic TV propaganda against the challenger to rumors of foreign intrusion to, finally, a “botched” vote count that felt as legitimate as a Supreme Soviet election — the Democrats have become the reactionaries they once replaced.

Coinciding with the flatulent end of the party’s impeachment gambit, and the related news that Donald Trump is enjoying climbing approval ratings, the Blue Party was exposed as an incompetent lobby for doomed elites, dumb crooks with nothing left to offer but their exit.
Much, much more at the link. Taibbi is no friend of conservatives, but when he's correct, he's correct.

Huzzah for that new reign of youth and modernity - brought to you by Bernie Sanders and Joe Biden!

Devastating.

It sounds as if the Dems are basically going through the same experience Republicans went through in 2015-16. The comment, "He pisses off the right people" sounds familiar. People eventually get fed up with folks who campaign one way, and vote the other, and when that shows up it leaves those in charge in a dither.

So, it's looking as if the 2020 campaign will ultimately be between a one-time Democrat billionaire and a one-time Republican billionaire.

You stole my comment, Crankbait. But, I think the DNC has more authority over it's it's slave class than the GOP does and I don't see Bloomberg getting the nod... Not without street violence anyway.

1968, anyone?

Gino, there's likely going to be street violence anyway if the Dems block Bernie. The party has to be hoping he self-destructs in a way that can't be tied back to them.

Bernie is as every bit self destruct able (on paper) as Trump was supposed to be. (He wrote slasher rape fictional for one). Thing is, his followers know it. They don't care.

It will have to come down to the DNC self destructing to stop him.
