Phillies outlast Mariners, 11-10

The mighty Arden Hills Phillies broke out to an early 10-0 lead before coasting home with an 11-10 victory over the Mariners yesterday at Island Lake School in Shoreview. The Phillies combined a steady hitting attack that put eight runs on the board against the Mariner starter, adding 3 more against some tough Mariner relief pitching. Phillies pitching was strong through the first three innings, but the Mariners were able to rally in the 4th and 6th. Still, it was a fine victory and squares the team's overall record at 2-2-1. Your faithful correspondent's favorite player went 0-1, scoring two runs (both as a result of walks) and grounding out sharply to the pitcher in the 5th inning. The Phillies return to action tomorrow against the Giants - game time is 6 p.m. at Lambert Park in picturesque Mounds View. We'll have the details here.
