Phillies tie Twins, prepare for Cubs
In a tense, tightly played contest, the Arden Hills Phillies tied the Arden Hills Twins 1-1 last night at Turtle Lake School. Both squads featured primarily students from the same school, Valentine Hills Elementary, so there was a lot of familiarity between the squads. One thing was especially similar – dominant pitching. The Twins were able to nick the Phillies starter for one run in the 3rd inning and threatened in 5th and 6th, but stellar relief pitching kept them at bay. Meanwhile, our Phillies were unable to mount a rally until the 5th inning, when a run scored. Unfortunately, that was it. Still, it was a well-played game between two evenly matched teams and there will be a rematch later on. The tie moved the overall record for the Phillies to 3-2-2. Our charges next take the field on Thursday against the Cubs. Game time is 6 p.m. at Silver Oaks Park in New Brighton. We’ll have the results right here.
