Donald Driver

Donald Driver announced his retirement yesterday. A lot of people who aren't Packer fans were surprised by how much Driver meant to the team and its fans. There are two reasons for why Driver is such a beloved figure in Green Bay. First, he could do things like this:


But more importantly, he did things like this:


That second video features highlights from the charity softball game that Driver has put on for a number of years now. Outside of Bart Starr's instrumental role in supporting the Rawhide Boys Ranch, I can't think of another member of the Packers who has been more tireless in supporting charitable endeavors in Wisconsin. A lot of athletes wear the team laundry and take the money but don't give much back to the community. Driver has never seen it that way.

Driver was a great help to our JDRF chapter a few years back. His smile and presence raised a lot of money and made our guests happy.
