Seriously is the new stadium any bigger of a rip off than light rail or any of the other boondoggle ambitious initiatives that have been brought forth recently? This is a classic case of Socialism for the rich, and capitalism for everyone else. Zygi lines his pockets, while you pay. Dayton's cronies line their pockets while you pay. What happens when the money runs dry. We can't print money like the Federales? The voters have spoken and this is apparently what is wanted.

When you depreciate the capital, light rail is about 90% subsidized, and my "back of the envelope" calculation is that the new Crystal Cathedral will be, too. So it's about the same, except that more taxpayers will be able to ride the "Death Trolley", as Anti-Strib used to call it.

I'm seeing a LOT of government projects coming in without honest accounting. My town's water park is claiming a "profit" is imminent by ignoring the depreciation cost of the capital. It only shifts the break-even point by about two hundred grand per y ear, after all--an amount greater than revenues last year. "oops"

Nope. But if you'd like, I'll be happy to mock light rail, too.

Fortunately, in our system, we get to ask the voters to speak more than just once.
