Give me a ticket to an aeroplane

Baby just wrote me a letter:

Heh
"In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate."

I don't care how much money I gotta spend/Got to get back to my baby again.

"I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington and negotiating with me and joining the Strong Border Security movement to end the Shutdown."

And how can Nancy Pelosi respond? Realistically, if the shutdown is a crisis, why was she leaving town? For that matter, why were a bunch of Democrats in Puerto Rico last weekend? The job is in Washington, D.C., or so we thought.

The rack full o' luggage is pretty amusing, too:

Or is it baggage?
This may be a new thing -- the totally righteous troll. And not to put too fine a point on it, but one thing is clear -- Pelosi and her pals don't give a damn about the shutdown, or the impact of the shutdown. They were perfectly content to leave town and let their flying monkeys in the MSM frame the narrative their way. Again, pardon my French, but calling bullshit on this and stopping Pelosi's junket is one of the finest moments of Trump's presidency.

Agreed. I especially like the videos of the Air Force bus having to return the CODEL back to the capital.

this is an awesome Trump moment, and perfectly timed. I place it alongside the activist to brought some illegals to Pelosi's vineyard.
political theater that works.

its about time a GOPr punched back. Romney,McCain, any Bush... would not have pulled this.

next move, release a list, a complete list, of all passengers (aids, family, etc...) who were expected on this flight, and the cost... including booze.

Spending days are gone,
You're a-staying home,
Your President just wrote you a letter...

Trump is loving this shutdown. Fast food with Clemson, cutting up the credit card on Nancy's glamour tour...can't wait to see what's next.

Perhaps he'll do the State of the Union address from Trump Tower. Or the Wall.

i might be hurting him in the short term, but i think the long term, as long as he's able to use theater like this, he can only come out the winner.
start releasing the dollar figures of Pelosi's past travels... including booze... all of it, to the detail...

Cost of the "wall" == 40 hours government spending. 3 weeks? priceless.

He needs to frame it as Pelosi and the Dems favor non-citizens over federal employees (who are likely Democrats by a wide margin).

YES!!!

I'm still not much of a Trump fan, but I have to admit that things like this do put me one step closer towards voting for him in 2020.

Trump is always going to be mixed bag. The Democratic Party and its adherents, as currently constituted, are the denizens of the Mos Eisley Cantina.

But this all goes back to Trump shutting the government down. Over a wall. Which the majority of Americans don't want anything to do with.

And what do the supporters of the wall want it to read once it's finished? Should it be Whites Only? Because that's what it'll be, the world's largest whites only sign. Or will they go with No More Taco Trucks?

And for Pelosi. I was never a fan. Until I heard that she walked into a meeting with a group that didn't want her to be the Speaker again, and asked them what it'll take to get her the gavel back today. I found some respect for her on that day. That's how one negotiates. Trump should take some notes on how it's done.

J. Peterson, the wall isn't about keeping everybody out. Trump is married to an immigrant, for goodness' sake, and he's got at least one in his Cabinet. (Elaine Chow) It's about playing by the rules and doing background and medical checks on those who do come here. It's about a horrendous rate (60-80% according to the New York Times) of sexual assault against female immigrants, about a horrendous drug trade across the border, and more.

One might wonder whether the Democrats are actually in favor of immigrants being raped, massive drug problems, tropical diseases in our country, and crimes committed by illegals. Sure seems like it.

Assuming a lot of facts not in evidence. “Whites only?” And I like taco trucks. Good tacos are straight up delicious. Immigration is more complicated than what you’re suggesting.

"Orange Man Bad" is all the nuance needed.

As for Pelosi, she didn’t negotiate her gavel. She crushed any potential rival. Look up what really happened.

Petercorp said...

You're right. It's not about keeping everyone out. Eventually it'll be about keeping everyone in.

Whites only was a bit dramatic. I'll admit it. But it'll be a symbol of what has happened to the country over the past few years. Instead of all of the statues and monuments that are left from the American Civil War, we'll have one huge one this time for America's Second Civil War. A very expensive one and just like all of the other ones, less than half of the country wants anything to do with it.

I wish that it were as simple as Orange Man Bad. I have a lot less of problem with him than I do with all of the traditionalists that have put him there and continue their cultish support of him.

You're right. Those that didn't negotiate with Nancy learned a valuable lesson of not to fuss with her when they had their chance to cut a deal with her. The ones that were smart enough to make a bargain made out well.

If I find out that my boss cheats on his wife I know after that I shouldn't trust him because he's a liar and not a decent person. Trump has cheated on all three of his wives including paying for it with an actress known for performing in adult movies. What traditions does he have to break for people to see him as he truly is? I know that traditionalists seem to have some understanding that men who have wealth and power are rarely faithful to their wives, but they still trust them?

I would like to add that I have yet to like a president while they're still in office.

Traditionalists like Gino, presumably? I think you have to define what you mean by "traditionalists" before you can really sort things out.

Sometimes you have to make a choice. While the choice was not binary in 2016, for most people the choice was between Trump and Hillary Clinton. We had, at the time of the election, nearly a quarter century of experience with the Clintons. They were demonstrably worse. I strongly preferred other candidates in the 2016 primary. I could not bring myself to vote for Trump. I've said as much in this forum. But since he was elected, he's generally done a good job. Meanwhile, the Democrats have been insane from the jump. For the past two years, what I've seen are leftists shrieking "he's insane" without even taking a breath. And based on what I see, the alternatives to Trump currently on offer are Marxist Barbie and a bunch of fugitives from Madame Tussaud's. I can't speak for anyone else, but I see an uncouth lout who is generally doing a good job on one side, and a bunch of people who aren't in control of their own faculties on the other.

It's probably not a true definition, but traditionalists are those that for whatever reason are bound to morality. They have a protestant work ethic. Even though the company that they work for will always try to rip them off. They'll be fair to everyone who's unfair to them. They basically stop evolving somewhere between middle school and college age.

They can't pull their punches so to speak. They couldn't tell a lie if their life depended on it. Worse men will always pass them in life because while they aim higher they'll always be stuck around mediocrity due to one hand being tied behind their back by their own set of values.

It's admirable. Until they get angry and blame everyone else because for their lot in life. As a man of biology and chemistry I have to pity them for knowing that they can't help it as much as I can't help but to have pity for them.

Like I said Trump isn't the root of the problem. He's a symptom of it. Trump was a gamble. It isn't paying off. White Christians are becoming his only followers. Once the wealthy got him to cut their taxes they bailed. Independents and moderates left long ago.

We all knew what a Clinton presidency would look like. You can prepare if you know exactly what's coming. Instead America's being held hostage by a bunch of f**king millrats. Fear's one hell of a drug. And they're overdosing on it. It's fine if they want to be suicidal, but they need to stop dragging the rest of us down with them.

Mr. D said...

Millrats? Are their concerns somehow less relevant than the concerns of the New Class? If so, why? And how, exactly, are those millrats bringing us down?

I’d really like to understand your argument, but it seems to be more about style and mores than substance.

Petercorp said...

Not the actual millrats themselves, but their mentality. And of course not. Maybe I'm just not understanding them enough. Hopefully the fact that I think that Bernie Sanders is too conservative will help to explain why.

Mr. D said...

We are at a point where a lot of people are facing forces beyond their control. Globalization is real, robots are real, and cheap labor is a challenge. The era where U.S. industry dominated is long over. But we simply can’t just say the people on the business end of these trends have a bad mentality. Trump is trying to improve the lives of people who have done good things for our country. It may not work, but his efforts have been purposeful and have made a positive impact. Trump isn’t my cup of tea, but he is trying to do good things. That matters.

As for Bernie, ask the people at Burlington College what they think of Bernie and his wife.
