Potentially. There's a lot more at Watts Up With That? It's a long piece but very much worth your time. The very short version of this chart: The blue numbers are the raw data. The red numbers are the "homogenized" data following the addition of secret sauce. The black line indicates the amount of secret sauce that was used. The reason it was used? We're still waiting to find that out.
Meanwhile, as the worthies meet with furrowed brows in Copenhagen, there's a little trouble with one of their potential solutions to the issue they purport to address.

I think it's pretty obvious why the secret sauce was used.
And it's also pretty obvious that what was done goes beyond any explainable Scientific Theory. If a bank, or any other business cooked the books that way, they'd be looking at prosecution and possible prosecution under the Richo statutes.
A note to any and all Democrats who feel that Al Gore's statements are more important that actual science: "Move forward on Global Climate Change with Caution. If you move forward as if the recent "discoveries" don't matter, it wil be at your own peril at the voting booths."
Another note to all politicians, please shut up. Every time you speak you are apparently causing pollution.
Does the opposition have any credible reason to move forward?
I'm just a bit wary of boiling everything down to one graph because I know how graphs have been manipulated (hockey sticks!)
I'm not disputing the graph. I just want people to understand that there are many things wrong with this theory and the politics surrounding it. These problems are systemic (peer review manipulation, group think, secrecy) and demand wholesale changes in the status quo.
This graph is like a little appetizer before the piece de resistance, that is the corrupted system of climate science.
WBP,
I agree. One graph doesn't tell the story and I didn't mean to imply that. This particular incident does illuminate the litany of systemic problems involved.
I really hope that everyone reads the Watts Up With That piece that I've linked. It's a long piece but it explains rather a lot.
It's interesting that they had to add so much "secret sauce" in an era when supposedly urbanization was heating up temperature readings. Hmmmm.....
Wait'll it turns out that the data points all come from TCF Bank thermometers, BB.
