Things I Learn on the Internet

Who knew?

Ex-presidential candidate John Edwards has a serious heart condition that will require a medical procedure next month and his illness limits his travel including for an upcoming court case over possible campaign violations, his doctor told a judge, who delayed the trial.
So heartless people can have a heart condition? Go figure!

Seriously -- go get it treated, Mr. Edwards. Then go away.

Mr. D:

Is he still hanging with that blonde who bore his offspring while he was still married to his dying wife or has she also gotten some improved judgement?

I heard it was two sizes too small.

actually, i'm a little sympathetic to edwards.
i've read a few account from former colleagues who kinda defined the kind of guy he was.

i know one thing... when it would have been wiser for him to stay away, he was caught because he wanted to have a relationship with his baby.
unlike some others.

I had a weird encounter with John Edwards in the early spring of '10. He was in a bar in Durham, NC watching a UNC basketball game. I saw him, and he registered as familiar but I didn't think much of it at first (Durham's small, so you see people you recognize constantly), then did a sort of double-take when I realized who he was. He noticed (I'm sure it happens a lot), we briefly made eye contact and did the sort of polite-acknowledgement-of-someone's-presence-without-talking thing, and then went back to our drinks.

He looked...exhausted.

I never cared for him as a politician, and his personal life sounds like it's been a train wreck largely of his own making, but in that moment, he just looked like a tired, rapidly aging guy who wanted to be left alone. I wouldn't go so far as to say I felt sorry for him, but it definitely made him seem a lot more human to me.

I've tried to keep that in mind ever since...admittedly I do better sometimes than others.
