Speaking of annoying blowhards. . .
Jim Acosta, CNN's bien pensant apostle of self regard, thinks he's entitled to White House press pass, mostly because he has Important Questions to Ask Bad Orange Man. The redoubtable Mollie Hemingway states what should be obvious:
The First Amendment ensures a right to speak. It does not mean anyone who speaks is guaranteed an audience, or even a platform. CNN is filled with people who would ask Bad Orange Man nasty and tendentious questions. Many of them also have White House press passes. Jim Acosta's presence is not required.

It's funny how all of the press is banding together now over this. I heard that even Fox News is siding with CNN regarding it. But if President Tiny is going to be nasty and tendentious shouldn't he get the same in return?
Try to set aside your animus for “Tiny” for a moment and think about what’s happening here. The other journalists aren’t getting involved in this case because they are committed to the pursuit of justice. This whole spectacle is really about protecting turf and the power of the guild. All presidents have had to deal with obnoxious reporters, but they handled them in different ways. Reagan would pretend he couldn’t hear Sam Donaldson. Obama would simply not call on Fox News reporters and/or would give them the finger while pretending to scratch his nose. And in Obama’s case, he sicced the Justice Department on James Rosen of Fox News. You can look it up.
“Tiny” gets in the face of people like Acosta because that’s how he learned the game in the real estate biz in Queens. Wrasslin’ talk and sneering threats are the coin of the realm. Acosta comes at it from 11th grade forensics class and the faculty lounge. No one is asking Acosta to be Bad Orange Man’s pal, but he’d be a hell of a lot more effective if he’d be less tendentious and nasty. No one learns anything from an Acosta question, because he doesn’t ask questions. He’s monologuing instead.

Not to mention Sheryl Attkisson, whose electronic devices were monitored by the Obama administration. She sued, and what was interesting was that the court didn't rule on whether they'd done it or not. They ruled that investigating the matter would uncover sensitive executive branch discussions.
In other words, hedunnit.

So spare me the rhetoric about how horrible it is that Trump showed Acosta the door. His predecessor did far, far worse.
