Still thinking

What It All Means? You know, the Grand Sweeping Conclusions?

Don't have any. But a few more thoughts are in order:

  • Is the job of an Attorney General to be the president's wingman? Eric Holder thought so, as did Loretta Lynch and Janet Reno, and they all acted accordingly. That was okay then. Apparently things have changed.
  • Eric Holder, you might remember, routinely ignored Congressional subpoenas. And apparently, that was okay, too. I'll be curious to see how that tactic goes over if the new Attorney General follows the same game plan next year.
  • The single biggest thing the next AG should do is make sure that the Janus decision is actually implemented. Someone I know exceptionally well is in AFSCME and, as a result, I see a fair amount of AFSCME materials. At least in Minnesota, AFSCME wiped its butt with the Janus decision. That has to change.
  • Generally speaking, Republicans in Minnesota have volunteers. The DFL has mercenaries. It's never going to be a fair fight under the current conditions.
  • If self-regard were hard currency, Jim Acosta would be wealthiest man in the world. If the White House were to freeze out CNN entirely from asking questions, that would be an issue. But I don't have a problem if they put Acosta in time-out. Sam Donaldson used to be obnoxious, but he never got physical with White House staffers.
  • Tony Evers is going to be a thoroughgoing train wreck. The key for Wisconsin Republicans will be to let him.

Acosta needs to be banned for life. Decorum must be respected, and most important, physical altercations are not to be forgiven. This is the White House, where safety and security of it's inhabitants and staff is a primary concern. Make it so.

and let the Left defend a grown ass man of status getting pushy with a young woman. They will. They are easily baited, and the ensuing circus and dudgeon would be fun to watch.

as for the AG: Trump needs a wingman more than any other POTUS in history. I hope he finds a vindictive bastard for the position. All the bullshit will be stalled if Pelosi and Schumer come under an investigation of some sort... and it's out there, lifetimes in politics dont come cleanly. Just need somebody with balls, is all.
Show me a man, I'll find you a crime, as they say. Do it.

update:
RBG has fallen, broken some ribs. This tends to lead to pneumonia in the elderly... and pneumonia in the very elderly leads to...to put it mildly, not being sick anymore.

(Amy Coney Barret, please pick up the courtesy phone...)

Trump has more Senators now than he had last week, and not a Flake among them....

The Left will lose whatever of their shit they have left.
Damn, this is gonna be a fun year....

Yep. You could string the f-bombs and lamentations on my social media feed all the way from Mpls to the Inland Empire.

i think George Will is googling: "how to blame Trump for your wrists getting slit"

Dunno if Trump needs a wingman, but he sure needs somebody that will investigate obvious criminality in the swamp and bring it to court. (lookin' at you, Jim Comey and Hilliary Clinton)

Praying reluctantly for Ginsburg for the reasons Gino mentions. Having trouble when I know it's a person who's kept Roe V. Wade on the books all these years.

I wonder if John Bolton would like to be AG? Hoo doggies, that confirmation hearing would set new (and recently broken) records.

As for Justice Ginsburg, I wish her a long and comfortable retirement.

That would be entertaining.

Regarding Evers, I'm just glad that the GOP kept the legislature. We'll see how much pull he gets in that scenario, and hopefully the very real progress Walker made vis-à-vis the unions and those weird interminable investigations stays.
